Philosophy

Pro Facilitation is founded upon three basic beliefs.

  1. Great meetings don't just happen – they require careful planning, preparation and facilitation. The facilitation role, with its focus on the group’s process, is a vital role for group productivity and well-being;

  2. Better decisions, better strategies and greater effectiveness result when more use is made of the intelligence, learning and experience within a group or community rather than less. It takes the skills of a facilitator to design and conduct a process that enables diverse stakeholders and constituencies of interest to engage in a meaningful yet time and cost-effective way;

  3. The market for professional facilitation services will continue to increase significantly as more and more individuals and organisations gain experience of working with 'the technology of facilitation' and realise the value that is added. There is a growing demand and niche role for specialist facilitators in all sectors, and especially in situations where diverse interests and stakeholders meet.

We view facilitation as an emerging profession in its own right and support the work of the International Association of Facilitators (IAF) in its work on standards, accreditation and continuing professional development.
